12th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia, in June 1981
ROZA Sports Association (ROZA) was founded on June 9, 1981 on 12th Street, Monrovia, Liberia as a soccer team. Soccer is a traditional as well as cultural sport for many Liberian / West African young men. It helps to build leadership skills, brings sense of belonging and association to many and is builds self esteem for the the ones who need directions and guidance. Through soccer, young men can easily measure their development by comparing to / with others on the team, they can can lend support to one another and sometimes, they use the team / association to defend the community image and pride.
For the above and other reasons, a group of young men (Michael Kojo, Ben Federicks, Samuel Dansee, Solomon Duncan and James Bodywork Karrow) came together to support Rufus Arkoi in the formation of ROZA Sports Association. From 1981 to present, ROZA has remained actively playing under the LFA.
ROZA played as a 2nd Division Team in the Liberian Football Association (LFA) League from 1998 to 2001 and was promoted to the 1st Division in 2001 after becoming Champions of the 2nd Division League. ROZA played two (2) seasons as a 1st Division team.
ROZA is currently registered and participating in the Liberian Football Association (LFA) 3rd Division League played Monrovia.
In 2002, ROZA organized a female Kickball Team (ROZA Angels) and registered the team in the National Kickball League. A year later, ROZA Angels won the National Kickball League in Liberia.
